Mission Bay

Tamaki Drive follows the Harbour’s southern shores from Quay St, near the Ferry Building in the central city, to the waterfront suburb of St Heliers, passing Mission Bay and Kohimarama Beach on its 10km route.  All three beaches are meccas for visitors to Auckland.  Their fine sand beaches are perfect for swimming and wind-surfing, their wide shore-front boulevards and boardwalks ideal for roller-bladers, cyclists and walkers, their cafes inviting passers-by to stop awhile.  The city’s sightseeing buses travel from the Britomart Transport Hub along Tamaki Drive, stopping at Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World and the Bastion Point look-out (Takaparawhau) or you can walk part or all of the route, then return to the city by suburban bus.
