DECKS OF PAIHIA
Hosts : Phil and Wendy Hopkinson
When it comes to staying at any B&B, nothing matters more than how you are welcomed by your hosts. That’s where Phil and Wendy are masters. With eleven years of hosting experience, looking after their guests is now second nature to them. Their extensive local knowledge and ebullient manner guarantee that guests have all the information they need to make the most of their time in the Bay of Islands, while their facilities and ambience ensure that you’ll enjoy the experience in comfort and style.
Completed in September 2005, Decks of Paihia hugs the hillside above Paihia township, its decks running full-length along all three levels of its glass-encased northern wall. One complete floor of this beautiful house is dedicated solely to guests, with 3 plush ensuite rooms of differing sizes, plus
Guest lounge the central guest lounge, opening onto the poolside deck. All three rooms are stylishly furnished, their modern bathrooms
Bathroom detailed with a good range of guest amenities. Each room
Guest room 3 boasts its own flat-screen TV, plus a wide choice of DVD’s for a relaxing night-in. With a backdrop of native bush, this private sunny oasis offers the opportunity to relish the peace and recharge the batteries after a day’s explo- ration around the Bay. Cooling off in the pool
Decks with pool or savouring a poolside drink accompanied by native bird-song from the nearby trees is bound to bring a smile to your lips, while in the morning, Phil’s home-made bread makes those breakfasts
breakfast all the more appealing.
The Classic Kiwi Holiday
Yearning for some time away from it all? Phil and Wendy have the perfect solution. At their beautifully restored classic kiwi bach at Taupo Bay, on Northland’s east coast between Mangonui and the Whangaroa Harbour, guests can enjoy
Taupo Bay unobstructed views over this world class beach, and the towering bluffs which plunge to the sea beyond it. Picture-perfect sunrises mark the beginning of the changing kaleidoscope of light and colour across the bay which lasts all day. This very stylishly decorated kiwi bach has every mod-con, including a fully fitted out kitchen, and guests bringing food supplies in from Kerikeri or Mangonui will enjoy this beautiful setting to the full. Guests may even find fresh herbs and veges in the garden. It’s the perfect spot to relax into the classic kiwi holiday - sand between the toes, the scent of barbeque drifting on the breeze, and the laughter of friends and family. With no cell-phone or internet coverage, no cafes and only the campground store for supplies, this two-bedroom bach may test the resolve of techno-addicts, but for anyone with a love of surf and sand, this spot is truly heaven.
